William H. Smythe DMD has cared for Louisville families from the same South End office since 1973. Whether you're switching dentists, new to Louisville, or visiting a dental office for the first time, we make your first visit comfortable, thorough, and pressure-free.
Plan for 45 to 60 minutes for your first visit. That covers:
If a cleaning is scheduled with your first visit, plan for an additional 30–45 minutes.
Arrive 10 minutes early to wrap up any remaining paperwork. Our front desk will get your insurance verified and answer any questions.
We sit down with you to go through your medical history, dental history, current concerns, and what you'd like out of your dental care. This conversation guides everything we do next.
We take low-radiation digital X-rays so we can see your teeth, jawbone, and roots clearly. Digital imaging uses significantly less radiation than traditional film.
Dr. Smythe checks every tooth, your gums, bite, jaw joint, and performs an oral cancer screening. Nothing is rushed.
If a cleaning is scheduled with your first visit, our hygienist removes plaque and tartar, polishes your teeth, and reviews your home-care routine.
We walk you through what we found, what we recommend, what it costs, and how it fits with your insurance. You'll leave with a clear plan and zero pressure to decide on the spot.
We accept most dental insurance plans and file claims on your behalf so you don't have to. Before your first visit, call our office at (502) 448-2876 with your insurance information and we'll verify your benefits.
No insurance? We offer interest-free financing through CareCredit.
